Real people, real opportunity

Updated: Nov 4, 2022

Real time, relevant resources to help you get back on track whether it be education or employment but always empowerment.

Coming Home was designed for women like me. What does that mean?

Involved in the CJS, pre and post prison, suspended or custodial

Whether you have spent time in prison or you have been serving a sentence in the community. On license or on probation; Coming Home is here to empower and inspire. You are more than the mistakes you have made and you deserve the chance to grow, show and be all you want to be.

Being involved with the CJS is often a dehumanising and triggering experience. Having lived and breathed the process of police station attendance, through to Crown Court and ultimately custodial sentencing - I understand the toll the prosecution process takes on both victims and perpetrators of crime. Every sentence comes with a cost to the women sent to prison in particular - severance of support networks, family ties, community, continuity and stability; both financial and mental but moreover, the interruption to life and liberty leaves a skills gap, a CV gap, a window of opportunity and experience hard to quantify and justify in a positive light. Coming Home is designed to take the negatives of the prison and CJS experience and reframe them in a positive lens. With a focus on transferable skills learned behind bars and an emphasis on the value of lived experience, our programmes provide the holistic, human focused support with peer lead sessions designed to engage, empower and educate.

Digital skills, wellbeing activities, work experience opportunities

With a variety of blended learning programmes there is the opportunity to hone your digital skills, improve your emotional and financial wellbeing and resilience, building on the positive behaviours you will have put in place with your offender manager and probation officer. Focusing on what you need and what you want in order to move forward and rebuild you life in your own way. Building a network of peers, enhancing your professional network, Coming Home allows for like minded women with a unique lived experience to collaborate and innovate together, for eachother.

It's not about second, third or fourth chances. It's about this chance and how you utilise the opportunity

Knowledge is power. Kindness is powerful. We've brought the two concepts together. We challenge the stigma. We challenge the nay-sayers. We build back better and build one another up. Find your voice and your power, and Come Home.
